Boracay Rehabilitation (June 2018)
In 2018, the Philippine government imposed a six-month closure on Boracay Island to undergo much-needed rehabilitation. The closure deeply impacted the island’s tourism industry, leaving many locals without a livelihood. In response, JVRF, in collaboration with Emcor Inc. and local government units, distributed relief bags to 2,000 affected individuals. On June 8, 2018, the foundation helped ease the burden of those struggling to make ends meet, providing essential goods and showing the spirit of solidarity in the face of adversity.
Typhoon Vinta (December 2017)
When Typhoon Vinta (international name: Tembin) struck Mindanao in December 2017, it left devastation in its wake. As one of the first responders, JVRF partnered with Emcor to distribute relief packages to the hardest-hit areas. The foundation delivered thousands of relief bags, which included 10-kg sacks of rice, canned goods, noodles, and biscuits, to affected residents in Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay. The quick response brought much-needed aid to communities reeling from the storm, demonstrating the true Filipino bayanihan spirit.
Mayon Volcano Eruption (January 2018)
The Mayon Volcano in Albay, known for its nearly perfect cone shape, erupted in January 2018, forcing thousands of residents to evacuate. JVRF, in partnership with K Servico, distributed relief goods to those displaced by the eruption. As evacuees sought shelter in temporary camps, JVRF's relief efforts provided critical supplies to thousands of families who were left with little. The foundation's quick action helped alleviate the suffering of those affected, offering them comfort and essential items in the face of an ongoing crisis.
