FOOD SECURITY

Nourishing Futures, One Meal at a Time

Starting school on an empty stomach can hinder a child’s future. Malnutrition remains prevalent among underprivileged Filipino students aged 5 to 12, leading to tardiness, dropouts, and poor academic performance.

The JVR Foundation aims to combat this issue through our School Feeding Program, inspired by former trustee Alice B. de Vera. We prioritize Kindergarten to Grade 3 pupils. School beneficiaries are provided with cooking materials while the children receive complete sets of eating utensils.

Since launching in 2007 with 10 schools in Tarlac, we've now fed over 75,000 learners in over 100 schools nationwide, resulting in 88% of beneficiaries gaining weight and improving academically. In addition to school-based programs, we also support community feeding initiatives, such as in Tondo, Manila.

By involving parents and the community in the implementation of these programs, JVRF fosters a supportive environment for nurturing future leaders.
